Stepping Into The Hong Kong Art Scene
Hong Kong is quickly becoming Asia’s arts and cultural hub, attracting worldwide interest for its burgeoning creative arts scene.
With a booming auction market and growing number of international art galleries opening (including Gagosian, White Cube and Lehmann Maupin from New York), the contemporary art landscape is here to stay in Hong Kong. Most of Hong Kong Island’s antique shops are located along Wyndham St and Hollywood Rd in Central and Sheung Wan. Here visitors can browse rare items of furniture from the Ming dynasty, stumble upon an ancient snuff bottle or even a propaganda poster from the Cultural Revolution in the 1960’s.
A Spiritual Journey Through Cambodia’s History
Our spiritual discovery of Siem Reap takes in a series of intriguing historical sites and places of worship.
One of the most memorable and chilling is Wat Thmei, holding the remains of victims killed during Khmer Rouge regime. We have also arranged some exclusive and private excursions – including a visit to ‘Conservation D’Angkor’, a very special ‘warehouse’ normally not open to the public as it houses Khmer carvings, artifacts and stone statues that once stood in Angkorian temples. In the afternoon we make our way to ‘Sala Kdei’, an intimate private house within the Angkor Temple Complex for a private meditation (or restorative yoga) session. The following day guests embark on a full day countryside tour by Vespa when guests learn about daily life in Cambodia with the guidance of a local expert.
Exploring Thailand’s Ancient Forests
Our family adventure takes guests from the island of Phuket into Khao Sok on a journey of discovery through untouched forests.
We journey through scenes of rural life on the southern peninsula of Thailand, spending a few days engaging in soft adventure in Khao Sok National Park that may also include seeing the rare pink dolpins in their natural habitat. Our first call will be to experience the gentle giants of the jungle with a short elephant trek through the tropical, rainforest landscape. Upon arrival at Khao Sok Discovery Camp we make ourselves at home and adjust to the new environment before jumping in canoes and heading out on the nearby river. Here we paddle in a group and observe the dramatic riverside scenery, learning about the animals and local people who make this habitat their home.
A Series of Spectacular Landscapes in Kyoto
Discover the highlights of Kyoto and beyond as we embark on a rewarding journey through the fascinating heritage of Kyoto and splendid natural landscapes of Arashiyama.
Kyoto is a living representation of the ‘old Japan’, exceptionally preserved where cultures of a bygone era still exist in daily practices. We visit Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion), which was originally built as a retirement villa for the Shogun, before dropping by at Nijo Castle, an ornamental castle built by the founder of the Edo Shogunate. Our day then concludes with a visit to Nishiki Market, known as ‘Kyoto’s Kitchen’, a narrow shopping street lined more than 100 shops, selling fresh seafood and vegetables. The following day is spent in Arashiyama district where, among other attractions we visit Okochi Mountain Villa, the former villa of the popular samurai film star Okochi Denjiro and Arashiyama’s famous bamboo groves.art, Cambodia, Destination Asia, Hong Kong, Japan, kyoto, Thailand
