Updates from KAI - February 2021

Oh, the Places You’ll (Virtually) Go!

While we still can’t see each other in person, there are a number of opportunities for us to connect in the next few months.

First, our webinar series —Around the World in 80 Days with KAI— is currently in week 6 of 12; we hope you’ve been enjoying the daily sessions but if you’ve missed them please feel free to visit our website to watch recordings from previous weeks. We are currently in the Indian Subcontinent, and in the coming weeks will be visiting Asia and South America before looping back to end in Southern Africa, where we began last month. Check out the schedule, and sign up for some sessions!

We will also be at the Americas week of OurAfrica.Travel! This virtual travel event is free for buyers. Register at their website, and schedule an appointment to join us from March 8th-12th. Can’t wait to connect with you then!

In April, RepFest is back! This year’s virtual gathering will be bigger and better than the first edition last October. You will not want to miss three packed days of innovative, creative content from the collections of some of the best representation companies in the business. And just like last year, all profits from ticket sales will be going to charity. To learn more, visit our website, and don’t forget to connect with us on Facebook and Instagram!

Coming Soon: The KAI Culture Corner!

With nearly a year of staying at home far more than any of us are used to, or wish to ever again, we are constantly looking for ways to connect with the outside world, and each other. With that in mind, we are thrilled to announce the launch of the KAI Culture Corner! From this little space, we plan to share all sorts of things, including recommendations for music, recipes, movies, whatever we are enjoying that we think you might too.

Our first endeavor: a book club! Our resident bookworm Nicole will lead a monthly book discussion via Zoom on books that help us escape a bit from our reality. We felt that after a year of isolation and a longing for community, the most appropriate selection for our first book club would be One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez (find an independent bookstore near you to order from!).

Our book discussion will be on Tuesday March 16th (time TBD). Join our Facebook group to keep updated, and reach out to Nicole if you have any questions. Hope to see you there!

Updates from Southern Africa

After months of sitting idle in Capital Park Station in Pretoria, Rovos Rail is back on the tracks again! Rovos Rail halted operations in March of 2020, and in late January, they resumed operation on the two night Johannesburg to Cape Town route. They will continue to reintroduce their other routes in the coming weeks!

The brand new Palm River Hotel in Victoria Falls has an official opening date, July 1st 2021! Idyllically situated with unparalleled views of the Zambezi River, this luxurious, comfortable hotel promises to be a truly unique and fantastic experience when visiting one of the natural wonders of the world. For more information on the new hotel, click here for images and fact sheets, or send us an email!

KAI Helps Shape & Connect the Industry

You probably know that KAI has many great partners in the industry, but did you know that the KAI team sits on the board of some of the top industry associations? Dave is on the advisory board of USTOA, and President of the Northeast chapter of APTA, and Henry sits on the executive board of FTA! If you aren’t already a member, the Family Travel Association’s goal is to equip advisors with the resources and connections they need to better understand and grow their family travel business. For our friends, the FTA would love to welcome you with a special membership offer:
